"Great nations are never impoverished by private, though they sometimes are by public prodigality and misconduct. The whole, or almost the whole public revenue, is in most countries employed in maintaining unproductive hands...Those unproductive hands...may consume so great a share...that all the frugality and good conduct of individuals may not be able to compensate the waste and degradation of produce occasioned by this violent and forced encroachment."
-Adam Smith

Buckle your seatbelt boys and girls - it's going to be a rough ride.

don't you just want 30-50 acres around sweet home to put some crops and food animals on...quite working and drop off the map! sheesh, things are crazy. It wierds me out to see how we haven't learned anything. It seems as if
Obama is trying to arm wrestle with Smiths 'invisible hand' and winning.

Funny you mention that. I know of a family near Scott's Mills that is moving to Alaska because Oregon won't let them all live on the same farm. They have three houses on the same property (300+ acres), and the state wants them to tear down two of them, even though two of the three have been there for over 50 years. Unfortunately they cannot sell the land as it is, because it has too many houses on it.
Thanks for the invite, but Karen says I'm too busy already! ;-)
